- Proverbs 22:6Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.
We are pleased to announce that Frassati Academy is now receiving applications! The grades offered in September will depend on enrollment. Accordingly, we encourage families to read our latest update and apply.
We are grateful for all who attended the March 2 gathering and for the many people that helped make it happen, including the staff of Good Shepherd Parish. What an incredible and memorable time!
Following is a synopsis of the information that was presented along with some photos from the event.
Frassati Academy is a classically-inspired school. To learn more about our educational philosophy, please read or listen to the presentation given by Board Member, Martin Andrews, by clicking here
When discerning the tuition rates at Frassati Academy, the board was guided by a commitment to:
Other variables also contributed to the setting of tuition fees, such as the projected size and age distribution of our future student body. Enrollment numbers will influence the grade levels offered as well as the number of teachers required.
Because several of these factors cannot be conclusively known at this time, we are proposing a range of tuition with the final amount to be confirmed at the time of enrollment.
During the information session parents filled out forms to indicate their interest in Frassati Academy as well as the grades their children would be going into in September.
We received interest in grades Pre-Primary up to Grade 7.
Because the grades offered at the Academy will be dependent on enrollment, it is important to get a sense of the needs of families soon. Accordingly, we encourage all interested families to apply today!
Julia shared her testimony about attending a Catholic elementary school. She said, “There is no doubt in my mind that a Catholic education is one of the greatest blessings a child can receive.”
A very animated aspect of the information session was the ministry to children. Forty children (between one and 11 years of age) participated! This was an opportunity for prospective students to have fun, fellowship and to get to know one another.
In anticipation of Lent and following the example of St. Thérèse, the older children made Sacrifice Beads.
Heartfelt thanks to Tanya Thomson for her support, Joanne Albrecht and Katie Oster for leading the childcare team as well as all of the leaders, youth volunteers and Confirmation students who assisted.
- Luke 2:40The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favour of God was upon him.
It seemed fitting to present you with an update about Frassati Academy today and to invite you to an event taking place on March 2nd at the future site of the school.
We hope you find this news both helpful and encouraging.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who filled out our survey. The quality and quantity of this feedback has been tremendous with 250 responses received thus far!
In fact, we’ve been somewhat slow to respond in part because of the sheer volume of the invaluable information we’ve received.
Please know that your input is important and is being carefully reviewed. If you identified an area of interest for supporting the school, we will be reaching out in the weeks ahead. And, if you haven’t had an opportunity to fill out the survey yet, there’s still time. Click here.
Mark your calendars for an afternoon of information on Frassati Academy on Sunday, March 2 at 3pm in the auditorium of St. Agnes church of Good Shepherd Parish. We look forward to meeting prospective families as well as those interested in this endeavour.
Come and see the future location of the school and hear about the vision, mission as well as the educational philosophy of Frassati Academy. Attendees will also learn about many other practical details in anticipation of the school's opening in September 2025.
In order to support young families in being able to attend this event, childcare will be offered. Accordingly please fill out the RSVP so we have a sense of the attendance as well as the needs of families.
This is a wonderful opportunity for both parents and children to begin building a community that will be the bedrock of Frassati Academy, with Jesus as the Cornerstone. All are welcome!
There has been much discernment and discussion regarding the tuition rate at Frassati Academy.
In conjunction with the sincere desire for Catholic education to be accessible to families, there is also the reality that Frassati Academy is an independent school. This means that, in order to cover expenses, which includes the just payment of employees, revenue from tuition is critical.
The current range of tuition being discussed is $6,500-$8,000 per year for one child. For families with multiple children, there will be a discounted family rate based on the number of children enrolled. It is important to note that other private schools in the HRM have annual tuition ranging from approximately $6,500-$19,000 per student, per year.
Our tuition decision-making involves many budgetary unknowns, such as the size and makeup of the future student body, which will influence the number of staff required. Even so, it is a priority for us to finalize the cost of tuition in advance of both the March 2 public meeting and the opening of the application process later this month.
In regard to our desire for affordability, there will be fundraising efforts undertaken with the goal of offering bursaries to families who find tuition especially burdensome or prohibitive. If you feel a call to contribute to such a fund - perhaps in memory of a loved one - or to assist in its establishment and growth, do let us know.
We ask you to pray for provision for the school and wisdom in setting these fees. May finances not be an obstacle to our youth receiving a Catholic education. “Let the little children come to me” (Mark 10:14).
The application process for admission to Frassati Academy will open later this month. The application form, which will be accessible through our website, will comprise one element of this process.
Parents and children will also have an opportunity to meet with the leadership of Frassati Academy. This will enable mutual discernment concerning whether the school is a good fit for families.
Please stay tuned for job posting details in the weeks and months ahead! And, if you are an educator who is willing to volunteer your time or work for a reduced rate, do be in touch.
